Parione 22 in Firenze

The vaulted basement dining room was a real highlight for me. The meal itself was fine, though nothing special, and I found the staff rather brusque. Maybe that's what happens in a very touristy area, where restaurants can count on customers coming anyway. There are plenty of better options if you're willing to look further afield.

The owner came around to check on the tables, and the staff were warm and attentive. That hospitality made the place feel like a part of Florence. The food was memorable too: the pastas were silky and properly al dente, with rich sauces, fresh tomatoes, and fragrant herbs. The Florentine style steak, cooked over an open flame, had a charred outside and a tender, juicy middle. Dessert was a lovely finish, from tiramisù to delicate pastries. After finally getting to try the restaurant, I can say it was the most unforgettable meal of my travels in Italy. Every dish felt like a tribute to Florence's food traditions.

I first ate here with a friend in 2022, four years ago, and remember thinking it was the best meal I'd ever had. When my wife and I planned our honeymoon route through Florence, I knew I wanted to bring her to this gem. It was absolutely worth coming back. We saw the same faces and got the same incredibly warm, friendly service. I showed them our old photos and said we had to take new ones, and they were just as excited as I was. The food was every bit as good as I remembered, maybe even better. Giovanni, the Chef, is a true artist at his craft, and the meat is second to none, the best in the world. I hope to return many years from now, perhaps with my kids, so they can enjoy this place too. I'm glad I never wrote that first review, because now I can finally say how much I love this restaurant. The wild boar with polenta was amazing, and there's a great wine list too. Everything I've tried has been delicious and very good quality. If Tuscan food is what you're after, you can't go wrong here. :)
