Soggiorno Primavera

It got so hot inside that we left early. The whole place was warmer than outdoors, and our room was even hotter than the lobby. The fans did nothing, and everyone woke up sweaty and nauseous. The guy at the counter was really helpful with arranging an early checkout, but the stay wasn’t ideal.

It was pretty quiet, unlike the party-style hostels, and the staff were super friendly. The place is very close to the station, with clean bathrooms and a simple breakfast of toast and coffee. There’s no air conditioning, but plenty of fans to help in the hot season. A great spot to stay in Florence.

The people running the place, a woman and her husband, were really nice and spoke enough English to have a conversation. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we were pleasantly surprised to come back from town and find our room had been cleaned. There’s no kitchen, just a coffee machine and a fridge. The shared bathroom is small but clean, with warm water. Don’t open its window too early, though, or the neighbours can see straight in. It could get cramped if more guests were staying, but that wasn’t an issue for me. Breakfast was just packaged bread, croissants, and juice, so I wouldn’t count on much. Our room had a little balcony facing the street, where the train and tram passed about every five minutes, making unpleasant noise outside the window. Still, we had a fine stay, and the price was fair, around 70 euros for three people.

The host was kind, and the location was decent. Rooms and toilets were clean, but there’s no air conditioning and the room locks didn’t feel secure. Toilets and the refrigerator are shared. For some reason, five rooms have to share just three coffee cups and two tablespoons, and there isn’t much other cutlery either. The kitchen is off limits.
