The James Suite Hotel Firenze 1564 - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

The location is a little away from the main tourist sights, but it’s very walkable. The James Suite has only a few rooms, so the staff get to know you quickly. We booked a junior suite and were kindly upgraded to a regular suite when we checked in at 11pm, which we really appreciated. Giuseppe was a standout manager, making sure we were comfortable and greeting us by name. Our spacious, beautiful room had colors and fine furnishings we absolutely loved. Breakfast was serene, and the staff serving it were impeccable.

Italy was our honeymoon, and we visited several cities and stayed at many excellent hotels. The one that stayed with us most was The James, which really defined the trip. The comfort, refinement and attention to detail made the stay unforgettable. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. Alessandro, thank you for the warm welcome and for taking such great care of everything. You were incredibly attentive. Thanks to the rest of the staff as well, and sorry I can’t remember all the names. We had one of the best hotel experiences of our lives.

We felt tucked away in our own quiet corner of Firenze, even though the hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the Duomo. It was lovely to spend the day roaming the city and then come back somewhere warm and peaceful to unwind. We stayed five nights for our honeymoon and were struck by the care in every part of the recently remodeled hotel. The decor and even the bar’s drink menu felt thoughtfully chosen, with a quiet, alluring luxury to the atmosphere. The beds were very comfortable, the amenities high end, and having a Dyson hairdryer in the room was a game changer. Each day also brought a thoughtful little treat. The service was incredible, especially at breakfast. 'S' looked after us each morning, greeted us warmly and even remembered our coffee orders. If we get the chance to return, we wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

The cocktails at the bar were the best we had in Florence, with a charming story behind their creation. I recommend the house Martini. It’s a cozy place to unwind after a day sightseeing. Our room was spacious, comfortable and peaceful, and housekeeping left little gifts each day along with lovely products to use. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional, and met every need. We were warmly welcomed, with drinks and fruit in the room as special touches. It’s a lovely little hotel for a bit of luxury with the warmth of a family-run place. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at anywhere, and highly recommend it.
