A quiet countryside break just outside Florence, with a grand villa, broad hill views, and huge suites. The setting felt like a Tuscan postcard, with old-world character and modern comforts. The stay was pleasant, though some of the little luxury extras were missing. Our Royal Suite cost €315, which felt like good value for the size and setting. At €500+ a night, I’d expect more. Everything was spotless and working, and the countryside was very quiet. The shower could have been hotter, and the heating unit made a little noise. There was a massive room, an excellent bed, good mirrors and Wi-Fi, and a large bath. The TV felt small for such a big suite, and the toilet paper was single-ply. Staff were warm and helpful, handling everything from check-in to finding ironing boards, though there wasn’t a real wow moment or extra mile. Robes, slippers, a heated towel rack, rain shower, and quality towels were nice touches. Welcome gifts were minimal, and there was no pillow menu or minibar perk. The villa has a terrace with views, a pool, and a gym, and the atmosphere was peaceful and luxurious. It’s outside the city, so you need a taxi. There’s no spa or rooftop bar, and breakfast was dull with paid extras. The review rated Price half pickle; Infrastructure and Comfort full pickle; Kindness, Luxury, and Experience half pickle. Final score: 3.5 out of 6 Pickles. The stay was a refined escape with room, quiet, and style, just without many surprise extras.

We had our wedding here and everything went perfectly. The food was amazing, the room was great, and breakfast the next morning had a huge range of options. The staff were really helpful and went above and beyond.

The room change made a huge difference. Our porter wasn’t keen on the first room either, so he called and got us moved to a spectacular one. We ended up wishing our five days had been longer. The setting is full of greenery and the views are gorgeous, with excellent facilities. Breakfast and the bar were both highlights. The location also works well for exploring Tuscany by day or spending time in Firenze. A couple of things could be better: the restaurant feels like it’s trying too hard and could be more traditionally Florentine. We also hoped for more help planning day trips. The desk staff didn’t seem able to suggest places or offer maps beyond Firenze. We appreciated having plenty of EV chargers. Most of our complaints are pretty picky.

That view is something special. Villa Tolomei is a lovely, peaceful place surrounded by greenery, and it’s only about a 10-minute drive to the center. Even our taxi driver was impressed and said, “Wow, you’re staying there!” We had two wonderful days here. The interiors, surroundings, and food were all fantastic, and everything about the stay felt just right. It’s a quiet escape with a luxurious feel. We’d recommend it without hesitation.

A pleasant hotel with clean, roomy rooms and friendly, attentive staff. Breakfast came with a nice view over the city, though the selection was pretty basic and limited. It’s not quite five-star in my opinion, but definitely worth a stay and not too far from the attractions.
