We could hear people having breakfast because our room was right beside the breakfast area, and they started earlier than we did. Aside from that, it was a small, cozy place, Francesco gave personal service, and breakfast was fantastic with a stunning view.

The terrace has a magnificent sea view, and Guardini Poseidon, Ischia's largest and best-equipped thermal park, is within walking distance. We went there in the mornings and mostly returned to the hotel to sleep. Forio is an hour on foot, and the island buses run to schedule. The hotel is family-run, which you can see in the very modest furniture and tiny rooms, though things were generally clean. Its thermal pool is small but adequate. Reaching the hotel beach means going down about thirty meters. The beach itself is a tiny strip of dark, dirty sand between the sea and the rock, and in a storm it would be a death trap.

Waking up to the breathtaking view from my window was a treat every day. The staff were terrific, and the whole atmosphere felt enchanting. I fell in love with this place.
