Il Gattopardo Hotel Terme & Beauty Farm

There were hundreds of ants by the bathroom doorway, and mosquitoes inside the bedroom light kept us awake. They also bit us throughout the night. The hotel seems run down now, which is a shame because you can tell it used to be a nice place. It's a far cry from that today. Don't be taken in by the website pictures.

The sunset view was breathtaking, and the location is convenient for the main sights, including Forio center and the clear water of the Bay of Citara. The building has real potential if it were maintained well, both in looks and location. Unfortunately, I picked it for its amenities and couldn't enjoy them. The indoor area, supposedly with two pools, a jacuzzi, and a Turkish bath, was out of service; the jacuzzi was empty and rusty. The outdoor pools were neglected, and the supposed thermal waters were in a dilapidated state, with moss around the tiles where guests are meant to soak. Breakfast was the only service available, and it was disappointing. One woman was covering the bar and buffet, so items were often missing from an already meager spread, and there was a queue for coffee. Our room was terribly unclean. The linens weren't changed during our five-night stay, the bathroom was nearly nauseating, and the common areas were also dirty and poorly kept. To make it worse, the milk at breakfast was expired and caused stomach problems for us throughout the stay.

The pools were okay, and I really liked the thermal water. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the cleaning was fine. But after a long, tiring journey, the welcome felt cool, though professional. The room was very old, some furniture was broken, and cupboard doors fell off. A dog in the next room barked morning and evening, and there were lots of mosquitoes. Breakfast was very sparse, and after 9 it was hard to find anything decent. It was an experience, but I wouldn't return. This place merits three stars, definitely not four.

We had a great time, and thanks to everyone. The location is very good, with the beach just across the main road and Forio about a 20-minute walk away. Staff were very friendly, the pools were nice, and the food was good quality. At times there was a short wait for a drink because the receptionist was also tending the bar. The AC in the room was loud but manageable. Our room was clean and okay, though a bit old-fashioned, about a 3/5.
