Paradise Beach Hostel

The dinner in the garden was a highlight. For both nights we were there, they had a barbecue with burgers, and we ate with the other guests as the sun went down over the sea. Shaun, the owner, and his staff made us feel at home, and I felt like part of the family with everyone staying there. It’s a unique hostel with a really nice atmosphere and a good price. The pool is a definite plus. One room had an amazing view of the pool, vineyard, and sea. The rooms and beds were clean, and the location is lovely, near one of the beaches. From Ischia port it’s a 30-minute bus ride.

Getting around Ischia was the hardest part for us. We came on an Italian holiday weekend, when the island seemed busier than usual, and it was tough to get on the buses, which are the main way to travel around. We switched to taxis and hadn’t realized how expensive they were, 35€ from Ischia Port to the hostel. We stayed just two nights, though a longer visit is probably better for really exploring the island. The hostel is remote and quaint, a unique find in Italy. Sean and the staff were incredibly welcoming and gave us good recommendations. We joined the barbecue one night, and the staff were great cooks. Eating dinner in the garden was a lovely experience. The place itself is very plain and simple, but the ocean view, especially at sunset, is hard to beat. Our complaints were the very, very small shower and the lack of a locker or anywhere to secure personal belongings in the room.

The bus from Ischia Porto takes about half an hour, and stops right outside the hostel, so getting there is easy. It’s a beautiful place, with a pool, outdoor seating, and a bar and common area full of tables and comfy seats. The rooms are large, with plenty of outlets and storage. The water took a while to heat up, and the WiFi wasn’t the fastest, which I put down to island plumbing for the water, but I’d still absolutely recommend staying here.

Book at least four nights, we wish we had. The hostel is clean and sits on a hill with great views, a perfect base for exploring Ischia or just relaxing. There are affordable private rooms if that’s what you’re after, and you can spend evenings by the pool with other guests if you feel like it, or cook your own meals. Fair warning, you’ll probably want to extend your stay. Highly recommended!
