Il Laghello Wood House

We loved the quiet, green surroundings and the beautiful sea views and sunsets. The apartment was styled beautifully, and the owners are really kind, with lots of recommendations for restaurants and other places to visit.

The garden is spacious, with plenty of chaise-longs to relax on and charming fairy lights in the evening. The place is in the middle of a forest and works well for families, though it isn’t just for them. We were two families with four children aged 0 to 5, and booked three studios: one for each family, plus one shared space for cooking, playing, or when a child woke very early. That setup worked really well. The owner paid attention to our requests, preparing beds and cribs, leaving some food for our arrival, and even providing a small baby bath without being asked. The large rooms had everything we needed, including dishwasher tablets, homemade oil, vinegar and salt, so we didn’t need to buy anything. It’s a good spot for day trips, though you need a car to get around.

The owner was so thoughtful. She left us a welcome package with bread, homemade jam, coffee and yoghurts, as well as pasta and homemade pesto for dinner. She also brought fresh vegetables from her garden and, when we had trouble finding an open restaurant on Sunday, offered us aubergine and tomato sauce on her own. We really enjoyed our stay. The studios are spacious and well equipped, with things like a dishwasher, a small oven and different ways to make coffee.

Lily is such a hospitable hostess. We were incredibly lucky to spend a couple of days here, and I’d give it a 10 if I could. The apartment was spotless and had everything we needed. We were treated to homemade wine, food from our garden and homemade jam. I’d love to come back.
