It was very cheap, and the staff were easy to approach. The service was a little lacking, though.

The village really stayed with me. It's charming and unlike anywhere else, with the feeling that time has stopped. If you're into the history of old places, it's jaw-dropping. People around the village were warm and greeted us even as we walked past. We got in yesterday at about 7:30 pm, and Mario welcomed us right away. He was genuinely kind and helpful. The rooms were lovely too. Mario suggested one of two pizza places, so we picked up pizzas there and ate in our room. The only downside was that, although there was a kitchen and sink, we weren't allowed to cook. Still, we had a very nice stay. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely pick Palmento.

Antonio's advice is well worth following if you stay at Palmento. He's a great host, gives useful directions for excursions, and deals with problems quickly. When we visited during the week around Ferragosto, we woke up one morning with no water. We told him, and it was fixed five minutes later. The broken room shutter was a different story. It had been damaged by the burning plastic, and with everything closed, there was nothing that could be done. The B&B is right in the center of Galati Mamertino and works well as a base for visiting the Nebrodi Nature Reserve. The rooms stay quiet and comfortable even at the height of summer, without air conditioning, though they could use a bit of work to make the stay perfect. We expect to come back, and hopefully next time we can give it five stars. See you then!

Mario was very kind. Even though we hadn't booked breakfast, he showed us the kitchen so we could still make coffee. Communication before we arrived was efficient too. The building is on Galati Mamertino's main square, two stories high, with very spacious rooms. The village itself is lovely, but parking was a problem. There are eight paid spaces in the square, and after we parked there, we couldn't find a car part. The nearby narrow lanes were full of residents' cars. I'd suggest adding a few cushions, maybe some taller ones, and working out a parking solution.
