We chose this place to host my future wife’s family for the days around our wedding, and they were all happy with it. We also got timeless photos to remember it by. The building is a stunning old palace in Galatina’s historic center, and every corner has something distinctive, an old painting, an ancient wheel, a unique decoration, or a lovely view. Italian VIPs, including rock star Vasco Rossi, have stayed here while in Salento. The service is outstanding: they speak English and, more than anything, do whatever you need with plenty of smiles. Parking is the one thing I wish were easier. There’s an adjacent building for parking, but the spaces and access are difficult because the street is so narrow. That comes with being in Galatina’s historic center, where space is limited and monuments can’t be changed or touched. The beautiful Santa Caterina d’Alessandria Basilica is just 20 seconds away on foot. Can’t wait to come back!

We saw Palazzo Baldi during the FAI Spring Days 2026, so we can only speak about the building, not the rooms or service. It was an interesting visit. The terrace looks right across to the magnificent Basilica of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, almost close enough to touch. The tour also showed us a secret staircase the counts used to escape in an emergency, along with water cisterns, a groundwater well, and a votive shrine. Palazzo Baldi was commissioned in the 16th century by the Baldi Counts, who had Umbrian-Tuscan origins. It later became the Bishop of Otranto's winter home in 1600, and he turned it into a lively place for intellectual gatherings. Sculpted arches and capitals, colorful tuff vaults, and old wooden furnishings fill the elegant residence. Until 2020, it operated as a hotel.
