Hotel Tysandros

The view and the staff really made our stay good. The location gets 4/5, with a great view and transport links close by for nearby towns. Parking is a problem, though. There is nowhere free to park, and paid parking costs 15 euros a day. The staff were extremely kind. I think the owner at the front desk was called Stefan, and he was especially lovely. He came back after closing time to let us into our rooms. The rooms could have been a bit cleaner. The sauna is good, but the pool is basically a large paddling pool like one from Amazon, raised on stilts, and it was a bit dirty.

The staff were so friendly and picked the best room for us, and a special thanks to the room service for keeping everything very clean. We will definitely come back. Our well-equipped one-bedroom apartment had a jacuzzi overlooking the sea. We could enjoy the view from the balcony, the bed, and the jacuzzi. The mattresses were comfortable even for my troublesome back. The sea sounds pleasantly covered the street noise, although the street was quite busy despite it not being swimming season. There was also a spacious room with another balcony and a kitchen stocked with olive oil and vinegar, plus a good coffee machine and some breakfast items.

We were there in May and had no street noise, with no loud restaurants or heavy road traffic. If I go to Taormina again, I'd choose this hotel. The hotel has parking, which is necessary in this area, and all the requests we made to the staff were taken care of. The wild beach opposite was not crowded, though a little dirty with rubbish from the sea. The cleaning staff did a good job and cleaned the room every day. They also did our dishes, which was both an advantage and a disadvantage, and moved our things around while cleaning, which was a little annoying. The shower water wasn't hot enough.

We asked about a late checkout, and the staff instead told us about a changing area we could use, which was ideal with our late flight. It was also easy to get around from here, with a bus stop nearby for Taormina and the train station about 10 minutes away. The hotel sits right in the middle of the beach resort, with restaurants and bars on either side. Our recently renovated room was very nice, and the balcony view across the bay was excellent. Paying extra for a sea view was worth it. The room was super clean on arrival, and the cleaners kept it that way throughout our stay. Breakfast was adequate each morning, and we took a tray upstairs to eat on the balcony. We absolutely loved the hotel. The customer service was on another level, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Our stay couldn't have been better.
