Hotel Velia

The rooms were spacious, had a good view, and were cleaned perfectly every day. The price was good, and the location worked well, just a minute from the beach. It gets busy there, though it quiets down between 13:00 and 15:00 when everyone seems to disappear. Most of the guests are Italian. The main frustration was communication. The staff really need to learn English. At breakfast, they didn’t know basic words like orange, bread, or butter, and it was impossible to communicate with the receptionists too. Breakfast service was slow, and we waited ages for coffee and everything else. You have to stand in line and wait for a man to serve you, instead of being able to take what you want like at other hotels. Still, it’s a nice place, and I’d recommend it to patient people who don’t mind a slow breakfast.

The staff were friendly.

The staff made us feel welcome right away, from reception and the bar to room service and the night manager. We’d picked the hotel for its handy spot near the sea, and the beach is only steps away and included in the services. There’s also private underground parking, and the showers in the rooms are spacious and lovely. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh fruit in abundance and a different cake each day. A few tips for guests: try the beach before sunrise, it’s fabulous from here. Breakfast is buffet style, so be considerate of other guests and the hotel. And be kind to the staff, they work hard, just like you.

The sea views from this hotel on the Grottammare seafront are splendid, and the rooms are very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Furry friends are welcome too, with a lovely surprise for them in the breakfast room. Highly recommended.
