Fattoria Didattica Gli Allori

The view over the greenery and Perugia is lovely, and there are donkeys, horses, chickens, and rabbits to see too. We found this farm through a food-to-go guide and got to discover dried fruit, honey, herbal teas, and plenty more. A friendly young man welcomed us and shared his passion and the story of this peaceful, green corner. It’s an educational farm near Alcatraz.

The rooms are lovely, though simple, and there’s a kitchen guests can use plus a big terrace with panoramic views. It’s quite isolated and far from the towns, so I’d suggest arriving in daylight the first time. Follow the signs to Alcatraz, which is nearby. Antonella knows the area, its history, art, and nature so well, and makes you feel at ease. A beautiful spot if you love nature, beauty, and simplicity. The educational farm and its activities are interesting too.

I worked remotely here for a week through the Borgo Office initiative, and the place made even ordinary work feel special. I’d brought my mom and partner, and now wish I’d brought all my loved ones. The rooms are spacious and clean, the setting is wonderful, and the animals are cared for with love. Antonella is extraordinary, and her son Lucio helped make the stay what it was. It was great to see the younger generation’s enthusiasm and inventiveness in running a business that respects and promotes excellent local products. This place really feels like an island that exists. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

The road to the estate turns unpaved for part of the way, but we got back without trouble even late at night. The owner, Antonella, deserves a special mention, she’s unparalleled. We could use the fridge for food and ice packs. We stayed in a welcoming, comfortable room with a rustic feel. Out on the veranda, there’s a large shared table where you can read or have a snack, with garden scents all around. The countryside stretches out toward Perugia in the distance. From the first day, a lively dog, cats, and a splendid peacock were there to greet us. At night the stars are magical, and when there’s no moon you can see the Milky Way. It’s a little corner of paradise for relaxing and getting away from daily life.
