Hotel Rivazza

In June we paid €200 for two nights. For that amount, the clean room and fresh white towels and linens were acceptable, especially if all you need is somewhere clean to sleep. But the July rate is €1900 for three nights, nearly €700 per night, and there’s very little to justify it. During a two-night stay, the sheets aren’t changed. The barbecue area was dirty, and the outdoor tables, chairs, and cups were broken and dusty. For American coffee, I got a plastic cup and stir stick, but no spoon for the grounds. The toaster looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The minibar was disappointing too: water cost €1 for a 500ml bottle and wasn’t even cold. A tiny tube of off-brand chips cost €4 and was presented as “Pringles,” though it wasn’t the real product or a full-size pack. Being near the racetrack doesn’t make that pricing reasonable. The towels may be clean, but the service and overall stay aren’t worth the cost. For those rates, you should be able to find somewhere much better.

You can feel the motorsport passion as soon as you walk into this lovely, traditional hotel, and the view of an iconic spot on the Imola circuit is astonishing. The service was excellent, with the owner looking after guests in a friendly, homely way. For me, it beats any cold five-star hotel. I’d highly recommend it, especially to motorsport fans.

There are only eight rooms, and they’re basic, clean, and comfortable. The owner was a delight. It’s set above the circuit and easy to reach by car, so you’ll need one. If being near the racetrack is what you want, I recommend staying here.

I was here for work during Formula 1, from 13.04 to 19.04. It’s a very good place, and the hotel owner is lovely. The rooms are clean, breakfast is good enough, and dinner is excellent. There’s a great spot at the hotel for seeing some parts of the track. I hope to come back when the pandemic is over, and hope the country gets through all the Covid problems as quickly as it can.
