Hotel Conte

We ended up adding more nights because we enjoyed the hotel so much, and I’d recommend it. The reception team and other staff were efficient, friendly, and helpful. Giuseppe gave us great tips for exploring Ischia’s beautiful coastal places by public transport. Our third-floor room was quiet and clean, with a balcony looking out over the hills. The bathroom was small but worked well, and the shower had strong pressure. Breakfast was fresh and simple, with scrambled eggs, an omelet, or extra ham and salami available on request. The location made getting around easy. Shops, restaurants, a supermarket, and beachside bars and restaurants were close by, and the beach was a short walk away. The port, where our ferry from Naples arrived, was about six minutes away. Public buses were around the corner, roughly a five-minute walk.

The staff were welcoming and the place was clean. Breakfast didn’t have many choices, but there was enough, and the coffee was the ⭐ of the morning. The location was perfect, and for the price I paid, it was great. While traveling in Italy, I realized a three-star hotel is more like a 1.5-star one in the UK.

The staff were fantastic throughout. I got injured on the first day, and they went out of their way to help, including arranging a late breakfast and checkout. We were given an upgraded room on arrival, and it was very clean with tasteful decor. There was a good choice at the breakfast buffet too. Shops and restaurants are just a short distance away.

The local artists’ original, pretty works in the breakfast room were a bright spot. The hotel and buffet otherwise felt short on care and effort to make guests comfortable. The breakfast was advertised as Continental on hrs.com, but it really wasn’t: there was a small selection of fruit, yogurt, and sweet pastries. We didn’t sleep well during our two-night stay. Staff weren’t especially polite, motivated, or helpful. Our room had a small bathroom and a large balcony, but the balcony wasn’t made comfortable at all, with exposed wiring on the outside wall and just one plastic chair. The sheets still had spots after washing, and the room didn’t seem to have had a very thorough clean. The AC remote was missing. I might have considered three stars if the one night we paid for through hrs.com had cost half as much.
