Hotel Kyrie Isole Tremiti

Set among the pine woods, this is a lovely romantic hotel, and the reception staff were exceptionally friendly. The rooms were perfectly clean, and it's a great fit for a couple's island trip. Breakfast was the one letdown for me as a vegan: there was fruit but no vegetables, and I missed having almond milk for cereal. It also took ages for our coffee to arrive. Still, I had an amazing stay and would absolutely recommend the hotel.

Breakfast by the pool had a good view and Italian espresso, and the island itself is spectacular and definitely worth visiting. The hotel service deserves five stars. They offer a transfer from the port, and the car with the hotel Kyrie label was waiting just a few steps from the ferry. Check-in was quick, and our room was ready even though we arrived early. The room is a little old, apart from the big, new TV, though who needs a TV at Tremiti?! Big thanks to Giuliano for all his attention and help with whatever we needed. Tutti perfecto.

The pine woods location is excellent for getting to both the harbour and the main square, each just a minute away, and the cleanliness is good too. For that, I'd rate it a 4 or higher. But the service and decor fall well short of a 4-star standard: the furniture looks cheap and old, and the service needs a lot of work. At breakfast, tables weren't cleared or set for new guests. We had to ask for cutlery, sit at a tablecloth with crumbs and stains from earlier guests, then chase the waiter for coffee. Check-out is no later than 10am, and the pool is off limits from 12pm to 4pm, the hottest hours of the day.

Despite our one-star review, we had a lovely time on Tremiti Island thanks to the beautiful nature around Kyrie Hotel and the very kind, pleasant staff, at least most of them. We stayed four nights, but in our opinion the hotel and especially its service don't meet a 4-star standard. When we arrived, the driver for the included shuttle didn't offer to help either me or my wife with our luggage. He was just as unfriendly and unhelpful each time we took the shuttle from the hotel to the port. We expected more service in general. At check-in, nobody told us there was a private beach or explained other information. We hadn't been told, even when we called ahead because having a pool was crucial to our decision to stay, that its hours were 10-13 and 16-20. I don't understand why guests can't use it during the hottest hours of the day. The wifi was listed as lobby-only, but none of our devices could connect during the entire stay. When I asked about it, the receptionist showed me his own phone and said, 'Look, mine is working, maybe there are too many people using it.' Breakfast was delicious, with freshly made juices. One morning, as I was at the buffet getting more food, a boy who seemed to be part of the hotel took my chair while my wife was still sitting at the table right beside it. He didn't respond when she carried another chair over so I could sit down. We've stayed in Italian hotels before, so we didn't expect staff to speak English very well, but when we called to make a reservation, we were told to call again a few hours later because no one could take our call. I hope this detailed review helps improve the service so we can recommend Kyrie as a 4-star hotel with a clear conscience.
