MAYANA SICILY - The suites

Our last two nights of vacation felt like being at home, thanks to Annabelle and Mayo, who were so welcoming and open-hearted. The bungalows are cute, well furnished, and carefully looked after. Ours had a safe, refillable drinking water, a fridge, a great shower, a good bed, and outdoor seating. The garden and grounds are clearly well cared for too. We brought our own bikes, though Mayana also lends bikes for free to get to Pozzallo or nearby restaurants. Floripa is close by for kiting or yoga. Pozzallo is an easy trip by car, or by bike when the wind is light. We went there for great ice cream at l'artigianale, and Tiki Beach is on the way for food. Annabelle's homemade cakes and granola were a treat, and thankfully less sweet than what we'd found elsewhere in sicily. Thank you for having us!

The homemade breakfast under the trees was a lovely way to start each day, and the place itself is quiet, cozy, clean, and thoughtfully decorated to suit the garden. It's a serene, well-kept setting among flowers, just a short distance from a beautiful long beach. Guests can use bikes to reach the coastline. Annabelle and Mayo made the stay especially nice. They were warm, attentive hosts who made sure I had what I needed and shared great tips for restaurants, activities, and beautiful Sicilian villages. I arrived and immediately felt at home. I'd happily return.

The area around Mayana is beautiful, and the bikes they provide make it easy to reach nearby places. With a car, you can get around everywhere. We rented the house, with lots of places to sit and relax, and did yoga ourselves in the green garden. Annabel's breakfast was delicious and healthy. Mayo and Etori (Floripa) gave us some great (kite)surf lessons. We had a fantastic time and felt at home in this little paradise.

The breakfast deserves a mention: Annabelle made a different spread of delicious homemade treats each morning. The rooms were spotless, practical and stylish, with a sitting area outside, and you can tell care went into the design. Annabelle and Mayo were lovely hosts who did a lot to make us feel at home. The garden has lemon and orange trees, with a cube-shaped building holding three suites, plus a house and kitchen cottage. I loved relaxing in a hammock while the cats played, or walking to the nearby beach. You can also take a bike, book kite-surfing or SUP lessons, or rent the gear. Morning and evening yoga classes are available nearby. From the moment I arrived, Annabelle and Lilly, their very friendly, gentle dog, gave me a warm welcome. Driving through the gate felt like entering a little paradise.
