I booked three nights and couldn’t sleep through any of them because the room was too warm and I was sweating. The aircon remote wasn’t working from the moment I entered the room. I first noticed it on the evening I arrived and contacted the office at 8.48pm, after reception hours of 8am-8pm. Their automatic message said they were away and would get back to me as soon as possible, but nobody replied the next day or the day after. I went by the desk during reception hours a few times and nobody was there. On the last evening, I tried again around 7pm, then messaged on WhatsApp at 7.09pm with no reply. I contacted the owner at 7.20pm, but nobody came to fix anything. I checked out the next morning. They got in touch the day after I left, with no apology, only blaming me for changing the code on the remote. I hadn’t, and it hadn’t worked from the start. I usually don’t leave bad hotel reviews unless the service is really poor. Here it felt like they only cared about what time you arrive and taking your money, then you’re on your own. The service was so bad.

We had a lovely two-night stay while visiting Cinque Terre, Portofino and Portovenere. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous. My single room was roomy, with a very comfortable king-size bed, sweet decor, and air conditioning that kept things cool in the heat. There’s no elevator, which wasn’t a problem for me, but could matter if you have mobility difficulties. Breakfast isn’t served at the hotel, but they gave us coupons for tea or coffee and a pastry at a cute nearby cafe. Grazie!

The location was hard to beat, right next to La Spezia Centrale Station. We had a great stay, and the rooms were spacious and clean.

After arriving by train, we left our luggage with the hotel so we could explore La Spezia without carrying it around. Large bags cost 7€ per day and medium ones 5€. The staff member was polite and helpful, locked our things in lockers, and gave us the key. We were also given a key to enter the hotel door and reach the lockers, so our belongings were secured twice. Collecting everything later was hassle-free. Highly recommend the service.
