La casa di Mattia

We stayed two nights, and Julia made us feel welcome right away. She was easy to contact and shared some great recommendations. The rooms were spacious, clean, and seemed recently renovated. The rooms are on the second floor, and you need a pin code to enter the building. When we checked in, we called the number for La Casa Di Mattia on the plaque outside. Julia came over promptly to let us in.

The place was in a good spot and kept very neat and tidy. The walls are thin, though, so we could hear the neighbors.

Once I’d booked, the girl was kind and helpful, though before booking I couldn’t work out how to contact anyone. I wish Booking.com and the internet had made a few things clearer: it’s a guesthouse divided into three separate rooms, and while the interior looks modern, the cleaning felt a bit superficial to me. The area wasn’t well maintained, and our room had a really unpleasant smell. Opening the windows made it worse. The location was a real plus, just 10 minutes from the nearest free parking lot. Thanks to Francesca for the directions! We paid €260 for three people for two nights in August, which I thought was fair for what we got. I’d suggest the owners improve the cleaning and update or create their page to explain the setup.

Although it’s a studio, the house has pretty much every comfort and is new, spotless, and practical. It came with Netflix, a dishwasher, kettle and moka pot with coffee, tea, barley, and sugar, plus a microwave, toaster, air conditioning, and an electric heater. I hope I haven’t left anything out! It’s in Villanova, outside Bologna, and the building feels somewhat isolated.
