The room was okay, and I didn’t find bed bugs, though I’d be cautious since other guests have reportedly had bad experiences with them. The location is good, even if it’s a little uphill. My biggest issue was having to walk 10 minutes into town with all my luggage just to meet a man in an office for information that he then sent by message, not even to get the keys. What kind of service is that? Are we paying for a room, or getting paid to do the work? The bathroom itself was okay, but other guests left water, shampoo, and dirt everywhere. It was cleaned every day, though. The price felt a bit high for what you get.

Please don’t spend your money here. We struggled for 20 minutes to find the place and climb up, but the lady wouldn’t open the gate. We called her for nearly 45 minutes. Several times she hung up without giving us any information, then accused us of not paying for the room and called us underage. She was incredibly rude and disrespectful. We ended up having to find another hotel in La Spezia because of how she treated us on the phone. It was appalling and disgusting. Read all the negative reviews before deciding. This place doesn’t deserve a single star.

The bathroom was cleaned every day, which was good, and after three nights without seeing the owner, the stay ended up okay. Still, I wouldn’t choose this place unless I had no other option. Check-in is only from 14:00 to 18:00, and when we said we’d arrive at 21:30, the owner told us late check-in would cost €20. We got there at 21:37 and were charged €30. Why not leave the key in a box? We then waited 15 minutes with our bags outside a closed gate, which hardly seemed worth €30. The location is very close to the station, convenient for train travel, but it also makes the place noisy. The walls are paper thin, so you hear everything in the other rooms, and there’s little privacy or quiet. The bathroom is shared with three other rooms. Its door only closes if you push very hard, and the knob is broken from people pulling on it. WiFi didn’t work for me or my girlfriend, and the boiler didn’t work either.

The room was infested with bed bugs and was honestly awful. The people were so incompetent it was ridiculous, and we never got a refund. By far the worst place I’ve ever stayed. It doesn’t deserve a single star. Stay away, they know about the bed bugs.

This is how the scam goes: you book and pay, then realize you can’t make the regular check-in by 6:00. You learn there’s a late check-in between 6pm and 8pm for an extra €20, but they don’t answer, cancel your booking, and keep your money, claiming you didn’t show up. Read the other comments and look at the very low rating. They’re doing this to everyone. Don’t go or pay. If you can, poop in front of their door.
