Ruster Resort

The resort has a lot of potential, but too many serious problems stood out for me, and I wouldn’t recommend it to families. The pool area is beautiful and well maintained, with a jacuzzi and places to relax, but for two long days some children screamed, jumped in despite it being forbidden, splashed, and disrupted the whole area. The two pools weren’t heated, despite being advertised that way. I stayed at the Ruster for a week with my husband and our 5 month old son. Our superior room was very small, and cleanliness was only moderate to poor, with dust and huge cobwebs on the blinds. It was unbearably hot, with no air conditioning or other cooling. Opening the window barely helped, and then we had to hear all kinds of motor vehicles rushing along the road below. The balcony did have a magnificent view of the valley and Merano, and the waterfall shower was excellent. The room was too small and uncomfortable with a baby, but they wouldn’t move us despite our requests. The paid cradle was actually a children’s enclosure, so it couldn’t be used. The restaurant is large and very nice, but the food was mediocre. The staff were kind and helpful, though not very well trained. It wasn’t what I expected from a 3-star hotel, especially with such high prices, a dessert cost 9 euros! Breakfast was quite good and varied, with a nice view. Our room wasn’t made up until 3pm, which was unacceptable. The towels smelled of smoke, and once they forgot a rag.
