Beautiful.

The location is a real plus, close to the city center, train station, and sea. The reception was friendly, and breakfast had plenty to choose from. After that, though, there were problems at every turn. A friend and I stayed one night while passing through on a motorcycle tour. We’d booked two single rooms and arrived in a downpour, completely soaked. The rooms were small and poorly cleaned. Cold water wouldn’t run, the hairdryer was inadequate, and the rooms need renovation. The building looks beautiful outside, but inside it feels dated. The hallways had furnishings that looked abandoned. Our room faced the back of a bar, where loud music played until late. The owner was rude, unlike the person who checked us in. He wouldn’t reduce the charge for keeping our two motorcycles overnight in the new garage. He said building it had cost a lot and that car parking charges were clearly listed on the Booking portal, though there was no price given for motorcycles. The garage was half empty and the bikes took up very little room, so it would have taken little effort to fit us in. His reason for refusing a discount was that it wouldn’t recover much of the building cost. I’d strongly advise against staying here despite the good location, reception, and breakfast.

We chose half-board, and dinner was excellent. The owner, Dante, is a very good chef, and breakfast was generous and delicious. The hotel is simple, but clean, efficient, and well organized, with a comfortable feel that made us feel at home. It’s right in the city center, just steps from the sea and train station, making it easy to get to the lovely places around Lavagna. There’s a private garage too, which is useful since parking can be hard to find.

Our first trip with my little girl was wonderful. The staff at the Miramare Hotel made us feel part of a big family, and they were so friendly and attentive to what we needed. The food was excellent, and our room was spacious and quiet, just a short walk from the center and the sea. Thank you to all the staff. We hope to come back soon.
