Lyric Hotel Levanto

The location in Levanto is great: two minutes from the public beach, on the main street among shops and restaurants, and around 10 minutes from the train station. The hiking trail to Monterosso in the Cinque Terre starts right nearby. Our accommodation was basic. The room had one large overhead light and no trash can, and the bathroom was on the same floor rather than in the room, though we didn’t have to share it. There are parking spaces behind the building, but you need to call ahead to reserve one and pay a little extra. We had breakfast at Caffe Roma, right in front of the hotel.

There’s no reception at the hotel. The person in charge already knew we were coming, but still had us wait on the street for 10 minutes before she arrived. She suggested places for breakfast and dinner that were awful, probably because they were friends of hers.

The beds were comfortable, the private bathroom was clean, and the location was central. There’s a private car park for 15 euro/day. The area was noisy, with loud music. We were given a wifi password, but there was no network to connect to. The door code didn’t work either, so we had to use the key.

It’s a good base for visiting cinque terre, with the beach nearby and the train station close for trips to the different villages. It’s also right in the center of a small but busy village with good places to eat, such as Café del Mar. Getting there with Google maps wasn’t easy, and the entrance to the parking lot was impossible to find.
