The thermal pool, which extends outdoors, was probably my favorite part, and the sauna was lovely too. Staff at reception, the pool and dining room were always helpful and amazing, with smiling faces. The facilities feel luxurious, and a bus from the hotel goes to any ski slope. It’s the last stop on both the yellow and red lines, so either line will bring you back even if you board the wrong bus. The hotel sits high on the slope with an incredible view of Carosello 3000. The rooms are a different story. Ours was extremely small, with the bed blocking the door from opening properly, so we could barely get our suitcases through. There was one small wardrobe for three of us, nowhere near enough, and I had to leave my things in my suitcase. The only window was a little skylight. For this sort of holiday I expected a bit more room, and we struggled to fit in there. Getting around the building was confusing too. Our room was far from reception, the ski room, pool and dining room, and we had to carry our suitcases up spiral stairs without help. The newer section has an elevator, but its floors don’t line up with the old building because it’s set at a different height on the slope. The floor labels made little sense: the room could be on the second floor plus stairs, while the ski room was on the new building’s third floor and the old building also called that level the second. It felt like the same level, yet it was hard to tell where to go.

Our room in chalet 7 was okay, and housekeeping did a very good job. Lobby and restaurant service was decent, though sometimes we had to ask the waiters to come over. Prices seemed fair. The hotel itself was fine, but we weren’t told that bathrobes cost extra to rent, so we ended up paying €20 for them. Local taxes are another extra to keep in mind. They’re common, but the hotel seemed to leave us guessing about additional charges.

The spa was excellent and had a pleasant atmosphere. The hotel is a long way from the city centre, though there’s a bus every 20 minutes.

The place itself is lovely, with friendly staff in general, a huge indoor and outdoor pool, and a beautiful sauna and relaxation area. The buffet food is nice too, but the hot dishes were cold: the scrambled eggs and bacon were already cold when breakfast opened, and dinner items that should have been warm were cold when service began. The heat lamps didn’t help. Most staff were pleasant, though the head waiter didn’t seem interested in noticing guests, saying hello or smiling. Our experience was frustrating, especially given how much we paid. We booked through the Danish travel agency Nortlander in May 2024 and were assigned a “Standard room” for the whole week. There were no photos showing what those rooms looked like. Ours was a small cellar room with no view, just a wall facing a dirty backyard or alley. It was disappointing that we weren’t given a decent room on level 1 or 2 of the “Chalet part” instead of zero. The room was cleaned daily, but one afternoon after skiing we came back to find the door open about 10 cm. We had to ask twice for toilet paper because housekeeping only sometimes left one new roll. The bathroom was lousy, with no heating except a small towel warmer that had to be switched on and timed for a few hours. The electronic room heating didn’t stay at the temperature we set; after a few hours it shut off and went back to +20, which was too low for the cellar room. My wife was freezing.

The staff were smiling, attentive and ready to help with any request, and the service felt first class throughout. The spa was a treat after skiing, with a warm indoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi overlooking the snowy peaks. It was peaceful and relaxing. Our spacious, cozy room was modern and spotlessly clean, with a very comfortable bed and a balcony facing the mountains. Alpen Village Hotel is in a stunning spot with panoramic views of the Alps and easy access to the ski slopes. In summer, there are great chances to hike and cycle too. Breakfast had lots of variety, including local products and freshly prepared specialties. Dinner was excellent gourmet food, with a good choice of wines. Everything was of a high standard from arrival to departure. We had an unforgettable stay and will definitely return.
