Villa Gramà

The inside space of the apartment where my family stayed matched our expectations, but the kitchen terrace was practically right beside the SS125, the main road running north to south along eastern Sardinia. That meant traffic noise while eating, from morning until late evening. There’s another veranda on the opposite side by a bedroom, overlooking a nice garden, but setting up meals at the other end of the house wasn’t practical. That terrace also borders the little road leading to the Villa Menhir units, so there was a steady flow of cars and dust, which was particularly unpleasant at mealtimes. Some other people, who I don’t think were guests, came and went for work or other reasons. At times they left a car running under the terrace while picking up or dropping off something, adding a lot of noise and exhaust smell. There was quite a gap between the property description online and the actual situation. The units at Villa Menhir, also owned by the same person, seemed much better cared for than Villa Gramà. Under the balconies at Villa Gramà, all sorts of things were piled up, including empty boxes, old or unused metal, work tools, brooms, buckets, cleaning products, small appliances, and lots more. It made the place unpleasant and potentially dangerous for families with children. If we’d known what the house was really like, we would have chosen somewhere else for our holiday.
