The only downside to our stay at B&B Anfiteatro was getting there from the station, which is quite a walk. Once there, though, it’s central and everything we wanted to visit was within walking distance. The place is in an authentic old Italian building with charming terracotta floors and decor, and the rooms feel cozy. We had the Puccini room, which was lovely and clean, and the bathroom was spacious, spotless, and had a bidet. Breakfast was filling: cold cuts and cheeses, sweet and savory pastries, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, and fresh juice. The person looking after the buffet was very friendly and made us coffee each morning. Keep in mind it isn’t accessible for wheelchair users because there are stairs at the entrance and narrow gaps between some of the furniture.

You’re right by the main Piazza, with plenty of restaurants within 100 meters, so the location is excellent. The rooms are large and comfortable. Breakfast was a little disappointing, just bread and cold meats with juice, coffee, and yogurt.

I was here for two weeks while attending the Lucca Language School, and I’d recommend this B&B without hesitation. Francesco spoke good English and was always ready to help. Every morning there was a delicious breakfast from the owner’s family restaurant just around the corner. My bright, clean room was on the second floor, had its own ensuite, and the lift made it easy to reach. It’s right in the heart of this beautiful city. I’ve visited Italy many times, but this stay in Lucca is one I’ll cherish for a long time.

We got cakes, cereal, yogurt, juice, and coffee for breakfast, though some cheese and cold cuts would have been nice. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they offered discounts at their restaurant. The location was great, and the stay felt well worth what we paid.
