Chalet Lucca

The owner was kind and made everything easy, sending a guide and all the arrival details to my phone ahead of time. Entry is automatic, so there are no keys to keep track of, and guests can have a complimentary bottle of cold water, a welcome touch in the scorching summer heat. The place is inside Lucca’s walls, close to the central square. Our room was well kept and had air conditioning, free internet, a coffee maker, kettle, and small fridge. The king-sized bed was comfortable, and the large shower came with shower gel. Linens and towels were soft and spotless, and there was a hairdryer too. I highly recommend staying here when you come to Lucca.

Chalet Lucca was a good choice for its location, and I’d recommend it for that. We stayed for one night. The small room was cozy and easy to get around in, and the bathroom was clean and modern. Everything is handled through WhatsApp and Airbnb codes. In our case, neither the Wi-Fi nor the TV worked. That wasn’t a major issue for a one-day visit, but we would have liked those services to work. We were told they’d be fixed the next day.

At night it was very quiet, and the location was excellent for reaching the main sights. The host was kind and helpful, and self check-in at the entrance worked really well. The room, though, wasn’t properly cleaned. There was a lot of dust on the floor, bedside tables, and headboard. The air conditioner filters were completely clogged with what looked like years of dust, and the kettle was so coated in limescale that it was floating in the water. This definitely needs improvement.

Avoid. One night was more than enough. The air conditioning barely worked, there weren’t enough towels, and the fridge had a refilled bottle of tap water that several guests shared. That felt unhygienic.
