La Colonna ( Historic Center )

The room's garden view and classy decor were a happy surprise. It was clean and cool, and the owner was friendly and quick to answer messages on WhatsApp. He also shared plenty of good ideas for dinner and places to see. The hotel sits on a quiet street right in the city center, with no noise at night. From the free parking spot it's a ten-minute walk. Perfect for us, and I'd book here again.

The host gave clear instructions and was excellent. The place is nice and well located inside Lucca. Our ground-floor room was small, but clean, with a good bathroom. There’s no fridge in the room, though there is one at reception. It could use air conditioning on hot summer days, and there was quite a strong damp smell.

The owner, Mika, was so kind and helpful, and the place is quiet and well located, with easy access to everywhere. We stayed during an off-road cycling tour of Tuscany. Our room was disappointing: it was advertised as a “garden room,” but it was dark, and the only window was high up, looking onto someone’s washing line in a small courtyard. That may have been the booking app’s fault.

The beds were comfortable, the decor cozy, and the rooms felt carefully cleaned and put together. The owner seems to understand what guests need, and the self check-in was easy. Communication was great, too. It’s right in the center, yet tucked into a quiet street around an inner courtyard, so mornings brought birds instead of cars and late-night noise.
