The place is huge, gorgeous, and clean. My four-bed room was all mine for three nights, and the bathroom was clean and new. Radiators were already on when I arrived, the room stayed warm, and the WiFi worked well even though I was far from the front desk. Each bed has USB and USB-C outlets. The doors use key cards and there’s no curfew. Bring your own lock if you want to use the drawer. I arrived late, and the latest check-in was 11 pm, though security is there overnight. Payment is exact cash or a link by email for card or Apple Pay. I seem to have been one of the first guests after the reopening. Reviews before October 22, 2025 are for the hostel that occupied this spot before it closed for seven years. There were a few hiccups, probably because they’re still getting new systems sorted out and the renovation wasn’t quite finished. The bathroom had no installed hair dryer, and its outlet won't work with most dryers, so I had to use the room's only compatible one. That could be awkward if sharing with others. Breakfast from 7 to 10 was great, with lots of choices, and they even made me a cappuccino. There’s a full commercial kitchen and dining room that I hope they put to use. The website mentions self-service laundry, but I didn't see or use it. The community kitchen was still being renovated and closed during my stay, though I was allowed to put a few things in its fridge. It seems small for the number of beds, which could matter in busy season. Having stayed in lots of hostels, I would have liked the front desk to share more about local tours and events. The staff were nice and helpful, but you can tell everyone is still learning the ropes. The website has no language choices or online booking, and I’d love to see both added. There’s also no WhatsApp number or group, which I need as a foreigner without another way to call. I’ve visited Lucca many times and will definitely be back. It could be such a fun place when full for Lucca Comics or the Summer Festival.

Friendly staff and a very good breakfast made this comfortable, spotless place feel welcoming. It’s right in the heart of the city. Highly recommend it!

It was over 25° in the room, and there was no AC during summer in Italy.

The beer garden service was atrocious, and the servers weren't attentive. They do have a good craft beer selection, but the house wine leaves a lot to be desired. WiFi only worked downstairs in the lobby and restaurant. Our large double room was near the famous Lucca city walls. They'd forgotten to turn on the hot water, so we spent about 20 minutes trying things before giving up and going downstairs to complain. Luckily, they fixed it quickly and politely. Overall, it was good for the price, and I'd stay again, but I'd skip the hotel bar.
