I only came across this place by chance while I was away for work, but I’m already planning to return for a holiday. Marina was so warm and gracious, and the breakfast was generous, varied, and full of excellent homemade things, from bread and cakes to croissants, yogurt, and toast. It feels magical and unlike anywhere else. I haven’t had dinner there yet, but I’m looking forward to trying it.

A lovely base for a stay in any season, with a great location and interiors that feel simple but carefully refined. Some of the decorations bring Oberichter House to mind. The apartment itself is beautiful and comfortable, and I’d definitely recommend giving the experience a try.

The restaurant feels especially welcoming, with excellent food and a breakfast that stands out. I spent nearly two weeks in one of the charming apartments, furnished with real care and taste by Mrs. Marina. Her creative touch gives the whole place a fairytale feel.

The tour focused on the Great War and included Fort Hensel. Captain Hensel, an Engineer, had the fort built in 1809 to hold back Napoleon’s advancing troops, though the Imperial forces eventually had to withdraw despite putting up fierce resistance. In 1915, soldiers occupied the fortress and were assigned to defend it against attacks by the Italian army.
