Hotel Principe

The view across the Grand Canal was magnificent, and breakfast was very good. You could sit by the canal to enjoy it. Our large room was clean and stylishly furnished, with a coffee machine, and the bathroom was spacious, clean, and newly renovated. The service was friendly and efficient. The hotel is close to the train station, bus stops, and vaporetto stops, and offered good value for money. I recommend it and will definitely return.

Hotel Principe has an old world feel, and the dated rooms and public areas have a distinctive, intentional character that adds to the charm. The bathrooms are different, modern, clean, and clearly renovated more recently. The hotel is right on the canal with direct access, a nice bonus if you're arriving by water or want that classic Venice experience. It's also an easy walk from the main train station without needing a taxi or crossing bridges, which helps if you're traveling with someone with mobility challenges or heavy luggage. Staff were efficient and helpful when needed, though not overly chatty. A comfortable, convenient stay.

Room 318 was absolutely worth it: a beautiful balcony room overlooking the Grand Canal, with a breathtaking view and very comfortable bed. The hotel is close to the station, and check in and check out were friendly and smooth. They stored our luggage easily, so we could make the most of the last few hours in Venice before an afternoon departure. Breakfast had a huge choice of food and drinks. Watch out for the bathroom smell, Venice plumbing is quite distinctive!

The train station and its Vaporetto stop are super close. We arrived by boat from the airport, got off at Guglie, then walked a short way south and a few blocks west. Easy. We booked using travel points from my charge card and got one of the better rooms, with a balcony overlooking the Grand Canal. It was good, a bit above the average European hotel room, with two decent closets for the two of us. The window shutters facing the canal kept out the early sun, and breakfast was very nice. Since we arrived in Italy at Venice and expected jetlag, it was good not to have to think about finding food. The staff were nice. One night there was a (wedding?) party on the main floor, and the music was rather loud. I'm not sure if there are rooms on the next floor up, but anyone staying there may have protested.
