We got thoughtful recommendations and help with planning our itinerary, and the atmosphere felt welcoming and peaceful from the moment we arrived. We spent four days here, and it was easily our favorite stay in Sicily. The location in Malfa is hard to beat. It’s tucked on a walkable back alley, about a five-minute walk from the town center and ten minutes down to one of the island’s best beaches. A wonderful base for a trip to the Aeolian Islands.

Paolo and Gianfranco from Il Gelso team were so patient and kind. They helped with everything, from finding authentic sicilian restaurants and booking taxis to arranging a great boat tour around salina island. They also did their best to handle my special breakfast needs. My room was cleaned every day, whether I stayed one night or a week, with fresh towels and bed covers and a clean toilet. The grounds at Il Gelso Vacanze are full of trees and flowers, and the jasmine scent lasted all night. Birds chirped all day, and I could nap for hours in the hammock because it was so quiet. Malfa beach is stunning and a ten-minute walk away, with a wonderful view of Mount stromboli on the way. If the sky is clear, you can see smoke coming from it. It felt like home, and I didn’t want to leave. Grazie mille, I hope to return!

Luciano was such a kind, caring, helpful host and made us feel welcome. The apartments have everything needed for a comfortable stay, and ours was clean and cozy, with a terrace looking out over the turquoise sea. We could really relax and take in Salina’s peaceful beauty. Pine trees and a blooming garden surround the apartments. In the mornings, the whole garden smells wonderful. A special place for a holiday. Thank you, Malfa, and thank you, Luciano!
