Le Residenze di Mantova

We were there for two nights with our five-month-old, who slept with us in the big bed. The room was huge, at least 50 square meters, with a frescoed vaulted ceiling and a cube in the middle that contains the bathroom. There's a fully equipped kitchen opposite the bed. The location worked perfectly for seeing the city, halfway between the center and Palazzo Te, and the elevator was essential with our stroller. We had a very positive stay. The broken shower slider and a few bathroom maintenance details were the only things that felt out of place compared with the rest of the room.

We were a family of four over Easter weekend and had a great time. The building was quiet, and the center was just a two-minute walk away. Nearby parking is available on Via Frattini or at the Mazzini parking lot. Staff were friendly and did the housekeeping, tidied the room in the morning, and replenished breakfast items. Our room was unusual and spacious, with a central cube containing a small kitchen, bathroom, and boiler room. I suspect the boiler is on the small side, since showers need to be quick to avoid running out of hot water. Highly recommended.

The only nuisance was the bathroom radiator, which kept hissing and wouldn't stop even when I turned the knob. Otherwise, the room was lovely and spacious, the bed fairly comfortable, and it was relatively quiet. The staff were very kind and flexible about check-in time. We found no damp marks on the walls, despite what some other reviews had said. There were bottles of water in the fridge and a coffee maker in the room, which we appreciated. It's a really nice place in a quiet part of central Mantua, only a few minutes' walk from the center.

We had a wonderful stay and thought it was an excellent choice. The location is just steps from the central square, and we parked almost right in front of the main door, on blue lines, but never mind. The residence is elegant, in a renovated 15th-century building. Our huge room was clean apart from a few negligible little issues, and laid out nicely around a clever central cube, with a kitchen on one side, the bathroom inside, and the air conditioning as well. It was spacious and beautiful even though the ceiling had damp stains instead of a fresco. The air conditioning was undersized for the room and high ceiling, so we had to run it with the fan at full blast, then came back from dinner to a temperature of almost 20 degrees.
