La Rosa Hotel - Selinunte

The staff were wonderful, so friendly and helpful, and the complimentary breakfast buffet was the best we had in Sicily. The location is absolutely lovely, with great views. Our room was a good size and had a small balcony with lines for hanging wet things. It was very clean, and the bathroom looked recently renovated. The beds and linens could do with an upgrade, though.

This is really two reviews, one for the hotel and one for the restaurant. ⭐⭐⭐ The hotel service was top notch. Everyone was very nice and extremely helpful, and I was surprised by how well we were looked after. Other parts could be better, though they weren’t terrible. The rooms are run down and smell strongly of cigarettes and fried fish. The AC only had two settings, freezing cold or off, and there’s no safe in the room. ⭐ The restaurant is where the one star comes from. It felt like a joke. The food was bad: my squid was burnt on the grill, portions were tiny, and the price was ridiculous. You can get better deals in London. I don’t know what they’re going for, but there are great places nearby with much better food and prices. Definitely avoid the restaurant.

The restaurant was the highlight for me. Dinner was exceptional, the best meal we had in Sicily all month. I come from a culinary background, and the chef is clearly highly skilled. If you’re in the area, I’d highly recommend the hotel, especially the restaurant. You won’t be disappointed.

The hotel has a good location and friendly staff, and it’s nice overall. I couldn’t give it five stars because a sewage smell kept coming and going. I’d seen it mentioned in other reviews and couldn’t believe it, but it was true. We noticed it several times in the first floor hallway and inside our room.
