Oasi Park Hotel

Handy for visiting Taormina, Catania, and Etna, and close to the sea. The hotel is clean, pleasant, and quiet, with friendly staff. Breakfast could use some work, though. Fresh bakery items and a few vegetables would help.

The room itself was neat and clean, but there were several things that made it hard to relax. There wasn't a "do not disturb" sign, and the walls were paper thin. A high pitched squeak, probably from a cleaning cart, went on for hours as it moved through the corridors. The tiled floors carried every footstep and suitcase noise from every floor, and the room chairs scraped terribly when moved; they need soft pads. There were also no plug sockets available for charging a phone. I had to unplug the fridge, and there wasn't one by the bed.

Dinner was bad, and my whole group agreed. The view was great, though: from a balcony at the back, or around the right side of the building's front, you can see Mount Etna. Be careful crossing the road to get to the beach, since cars go fast there.

The rooftop is a lovely place to watch Etna with a drink in the evening, and it's surprising the hotel isn't crowded even in summer. Taormina is a bus ride away, about an hour in all, and the restaurant area is a 10 minute walk. We stayed a week and had a great time, thanks to the patron, who clearly knows his business. It's a clean, simple 3 star hotel, right by a beautiful, uncrowded beach with clear water, about 50 meters or a minute's walk away. The coastline and Taormina views are lovely. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the air conditioning works perfectly, which is useful because the karaoke bar outside can get very loud. Breakfast is okay, not great. Dinner is mostly delicious, especially the homemade al dente pasta.
