The room had hot water, clean towels, and, thankfully, a fridge. The basics were okay, and the person at reception was polite. The view was beautiful, and parking was free. We paid 70 per night, but the quality didn’t feel in line with the price. I can’t say the renovation or furniture was good. Sleep was the biggest problem. The walls are very thin, and you can hear people in other rooms talking, laughing, washing their hands, even plugging in a phone to charge. I couldn’t sleep during either of my two nights. The high stone walls throughout the hotel echo too, so neighboring doors slam loudly and footsteps sound like they’re in a cave. Breakfast was just normal, despite what people wrote on booking com. It runs from 7:30 am to 9:30 am, and you must arrive on time or you’ll be left hungry. One couple came at 9:20 and got no food. Check-out was at 10.00, so I had to be out by then. I tried to stay positive and in a good mood, but it’s hard without proper sleep. If being able to rest matters to you, my advice is not to stay here. If you don’t care about rest and just need a quick bed, it’s an okay option. It’s around 40 min by car from the sea.

The staff are amazing, and the place is peaceful and calm. It’s very cheap for what you get. Just remember you’re in a very modern monastery, not a 5 star hotel. Be polite and keep quiet.

I loved Don Filippo, who welcomed me himself at check-in. He made me feel so important! The hotel is huge, newly refurbished, and has clean rooms. You can bring dogs, WiFi is complimentary, and breakfast is included. There was yogurt, homemade cakes, cold cuts to choose from, cheese, fresh fruit, and more. I love the city. It isn’t very well known, but it’s close to everything, and you can visit a lot in a couple of hours. I’ll come back and recommend Casa Mater Ecclesiae in the future, even if the name isn’t easy to write.

The garden and the wide view across the valley toward the sunset made me feel very comfortable and grateful. It’s a short walk to the center, cathedral, and restaurants, and there’s a large parking area. San Francesco church is attached too. It was such a lovely stay in the quiet of a former monastery. We received a warm welcome, and the atmosphere was peaceful, with friendly and generous staff. The room equipment is modest, but I really enjoyed the setting. Jochen from Munich area 🌞
