Really good.

There’s a little terrace guests can use, and we liked having somewhere quiet to sit each evening after coming back. The rooms were spacious, clean, well furnished, and had fully equipped bathrooms. Luca was especially helpful and always available, with lots of useful information for us. The welcome was warm, and the guesthouse is right in the center, where you can walk straight out into the lively heart of Matera. San Francesco is just inside the restricted traffic zone, so it’s convenient if you arrive by car. Paid parking is a few meters away, and free parking is a few hundred meters away. Highly recommended.

Luca was very kind when we arrived and gave us lots of useful information. Breakfast isn’t served, but they provide a key for free drinks from the vending machine. My boyfriend and I spent two days in Matera over Easter weekend in 2023 and were very happy with our booking. The property is right in the center. The rooms were spotless, with a very comfortable bed, and surprisingly quiet even though they face a square with lots of shops. The furnishings could use a little improvement, but the room was still excellent. Matera is truly beautiful. Recommended.

The property lets you use its terrace, and there’s an elevator. Each person also gets two complimentary drinks from the vending machine inside. Our room was spacious and had linens, a mini-fridge, air conditioning, and a TV. Although it’s centrally located, we found it relaxing and peaceful. There was a concert only steps away on the day we stayed, but we didn’t hear it at all. The staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful, and the Sassi, restaurants, and entertainment are all just a short walk away.
