Vincenzo made La Dolce Vita feel like a warm, creative home base in the middle of Matera. He knows the town and its community deeply, and hearing about his long connection to it helped us appreciate the history and culture. We had a wonderful time there, the best.

The rooms are spectacular, built right into caves, and the design clearly had a lot of care behind it. Breakfast was generous and delightful. I was also struck by the B&B’s environmental approach, using 70% less energy than other B&Bs in Matera without compromising quality. Vincenzo’s knowledge and enthusiasm for Matera’s history and culture are contagious. When we arrived, he met us just outside the city center, showed us a safe place to park, loaded our luggage into his vehicle, and drove us to the B&B. That help meant we could avoid the ZTL Zones. Once we’d settled in, he walked us and the other guests through points of interest and maps on our phones, explaining the city and how to get around without feeling lost. After checkout, he drove us back to our car and gave us clear directions for the next leg of our trip. We came to love the Old City and can’t wait to return and stay with Vincenzo and his family. The hospitality was far beyond what we expected.

We spent one night at La Dolce Vita in June with my girlfriend, and the location in Matera’s old city was perfect. Even in the heat, our tastefully decorated bedroom stayed cool. Breakfast was fabulous, including homemade pies. Vincenzo was a warm, generous host who clearly loves his city. He explained its history when we arrived and gave us advice on how to explore and find our way around. Communication was easy, and he picked us up and dropped us back at the city gates so we could park outside the center and avoid fines. Definitely recommended.

Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated, with an upstairs bedroom and a full kitchen that made the place feel like home. Despite the hot weather, it stayed nice and cool. Breakfast was incredibly tasty, with homemade food and figs from their trees. Vincenzo also drove us to and from the train station, which was a welcome extra. Vincenzo and Carla are wonderful hosts, and the B&B is stunning. I don’t usually write reviews, but La Dolce Vita B&B is a must. Vincenzo is insightful to talk with, whether he’s sharing detailed local tips or discussing the difference between tourists and travelers. Matera was incredible, and this was the perfect place to make the most of our stay.

The Camino room was spacious, clean, and full of local historical details, even fossils in the cave ceiling. It felt magical to stay there. We had a car, and Vincenzo kindly found us a safe parking space, then drove us to La Dolce Vita and back again at the end. One of the best parts was hearing him explain Matera’s history and the surrounding area. Ask him for a city map and he’ll take you on an entertaining journey through Matera’s space and time. Vincenzo really makes the stay at La Dolce Vita special. Thank you, Vincenzo! Mel and Joan
