The owner was wonderful. When we couldn’t turn on the room’s air-conditioning, she upgraded us to a beautiful cave room. It was quiet and very clean. Breakfast was at a cafe right near the large church. Amazing hotel, great stay!

The owner got in touch before we arrived to sort out parking and directions, which made things easy. Alle Grotte is right in the center, near the main rock churches and other sights. Our room was impressive, pleasantly furnished and equipped with every comfort, with a view of what looked like an uncovered private cistern. They also provided a few light breakfast items and good espresso. A wonderful night in the Sassi.

Mariangela made us feel welcome from the start. She guided us from the parking lot and suggested typical places to visit and eat. The cave was spotless and well furnished, 10/10. I stayed a night with my family while we visited beautiful Matera. Ludovica, who’s four, fell in love with the cave and kept saying “Wow” at things she’d never seen in a regular hotel room. Thank you for such a lovely experience. If we come back to Matera, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose where to stay! Morganti family, 16/7/25, room 2.

Right in the center, and super clean. Alle grotte is a beautiful place inside a rock, with every detail carefully considered.

Rosangela was attentive to every detail and very helpful, and the price was very fair. The room was spacious, beautiful, and furnished with taste and elegance. The location is amazingly good, right on the main street. Everything was truly exceptional, a fantastic experience!
