The only downside was that nearby parking costs by the hour rather than by the day. Otherwise, we could walk everywhere, with shops and restaurants close by and the Sassi entrance and Matera center only a few meters away. It's well equipped for a family stay, even with children, and the host was extremely helpful. We'll definitely come back.

We had a wonderful time in this spacious, practical, welcoming ground-floor apartment just steps from the Sasso Barisano. Matera is fascinating at any hour, like a stone Venice, and you can step outside anytime for a quick look at the Sassi. The Stano restaurant just around the corner won us over. A perfect vacation, with an attentive host.

We spent a weekend here in February and had a wonderful time. The location made it easy to explore on foot, with the new city and old city each just 150 meters away. The house was warm, clean, and dry, and the kind, helpful owners had equipped it with everything we needed: a washing machine, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, sofa bed, free Wi-Fi, and even an Apple PC that turns the TV into a computer, with a wireless keyboard and mouse. There's no reserved parking, but it was fairly easy to find a spot on nearby streets, and there's a disabled parking space right below the house. Definitely worth repeating.

The owners were friendly and helpful, and the small house was cozy, with all the comforts in the right places. We didn't need a car, since it's conveniently placed for both the old town and the newer part. The city tour was a real treat, and I'd return for the location and the owners' kindness. Highly recommended.
