La mia Resilienza nei Sassi di Matera

We were happy to stay here and would come back if we’re in the area. Annalisa was so kind and helpful during our two nights in August. The room and bathroom are simple, but she takes exceptional care of the place. Breakfast is basic, just bread and jam. If you want a continental buffet, you can go to the Hilton. It’s not right in Matera’s center, so you’ll need to walk quite a bit or drive, but that worked fine for us.

The center and the Sassi are about a 20-minute walk away, and you could easily spend the whole day exploring their beauty. Our room was neat and clean, and the private bathroom was super clean too. The owner was very friendly and welcomed us with authentic Italian espresso. Absolutely fantastic.

I gave it a low rating because the cigarette smell made me nauseous throughout our stay. The apartment was clean, but for anyone who can’t stand smoke, the smell of cigarettes is everywhere. The owner tried to deal with it using air fresheners, but they only left a strong perfume smell with tobacco lingering underneath. For the sake of her B&B and especially her own health, I’d advise Annalisa to quit smoking as soon as she can.

The Sassi are an easy walk from here. Annalisa was such a lovely, kind, helpful person, and our room was clean and very nice. Breakfast made us feel right at home. Thanks again, Annalisa.
