Le Origini

Saverio, the owner of Le Origini Suites & Rooms, made our three-night stay wonderful. He shared so much about the city and the hotel that it never felt like an ordinary hotel stay. The team were helpful and accommodating, and the breakfast was unbelievable, probably the best I've had at a hotel even though I don't usually eat breakfast. We loved Matera and can't wait to return. Everything is within walking distance, and it's a great place to stay if you want to learn about local life. I'd highly recommend it. They also have a parking spot available if you're travelling with a rental car. See you soon, Saverio!

There's plenty of space for luggage, and our room had a king bed plus two single beds, attractive decor, a small fridge, a tea kettle, a TV with lots of channels, and adjustable air conditioning. Rooms at the back of the building can be reached without stairs and have a nice view of the hills. Ours was cleaned daily. We paid extra for garage parking nearby. The location was perfect, with lovely views and good restaurants close by. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, eggs, and freshly squeezed orange juice. The service was friendly. Highly recommend.

The room was spotless and tidy, with a huge bed and pillows that were finally both soft and supportive. We had the biggest suite, which was spacious and lovely, and the Jacuzzi was large enough to feel worth the money. There was complimentary Prosecco, and the view from the room was really nice. The staff kindly waited for us to check in, then walked us to the room and explained everything. Breakfast is the classic Italian style, with more sweet than savory choices, though eggs and bacon are available. The food and drinks we tried were all really tasty, quality over quantity.

The view was the real highlight: far below, a brook runs through a dramatic rocky landscape, with old cave homes clearly visible across from us. The room was charming and spacious, simply but beautifully decorated, with a high arched ceiling and a great walk-in shower and bathroom. The staff were lovely and stayed in touch. On the day, they guided us around road closures, which was a big help in a city that can feel like a maze when you don't know it. Reception itself faces a postcard view of the old city and its imposing hilltop church. What a charming hotel. Ten out of ten, and thank you, Le Origini.
