San Michele Luxury Rooms & SPA

Michele welcomed us and shared tips on places to see and good restaurants. He was so friendly that we ended up having a great conversation. The B&B is in a beautiful old building, updated with a stylish, modern finish. Our room was lovely, with a bathtub in the main room and the shower and toilet neatly fitted into the surrounding spaces. The beds were very comfortable, and it had all the facilities we needed. Breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely. The old town, which is truly amazing, is right on the doorstep. We’ll definitely come back to Matera and stay here again.

Parking was a matter of luck on the area’s narrow streets, but Sassi was an easy 10-minute walk, and there were good restaurants nearby. Breakfast was served in a separate building, at a cafe about five minutes away. We just showed the coupon from the lodge at the counter and helped ourselves. This is a B&B in a local building, newly decorated, clean, and nicely set up. They’ll message you to confirm your arrival time so someone can meet you at the door. The room had a mini-fridge, towels, shampoo, hairdryer, water, and WiFi. The bathroom has no door, just a moving blind, so it’s best to be there with someone you’re comfortable being close to.

We only stopped for one night, but it was very convenient on the main road and reasonably priced. The room and bathroom were spacious, it was warm despite it being +4 deg outside, and breakfast was nice!

Michele, thank you! The owner is such a nice guy and very helpful, and he makes an amazing breakfast. The place is so central, and I absolutely loved it. I can recommend it 1000%.
