Hotel Europa Splendid

The hotel is very well preserved, with lovely old furniture and interiors that also have a pleasant modern touch. I found the staff quite unfriendly. It seemed as though tourism wasn’t what people there lived on, though maybe that’s simply how Meran is. Poor standards.

The location is amazing, right in the center, just 5 minutes from the nicest restaurants and 3 minutes from the thermal spa. The staff were very friendly and quickly helped me sort out a booking.com issue. Andreas at reception was cheerful and smiling, and made me feel at home. His manager was also really professional and nice. Enjoy your stay.

Anyway, it’s a beautiful place, and the bar looked fancy and was in a great location for stopping before heading to the Therme. But the customer service was almost nonexistent. We had to get the server’s attention several times just to order a few glasses of wine, and each time she seemed bothered. We were considering a bottle too, but decided to go somewhere else because of the attitude and service.

We booked Hotel Europa Splendid at the last minute and were pleasantly surprised to be given the Europa Loft. It was a fabulous, comfortable, quiet and well-appointed apartment, with tip-top views from both the balcony and bedroom. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent, and the staff were gracious and kind. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our visit.
