The owners were lovely and did a lot to make the stay feel just right. Breakfast was fresh, varied, and really good. The rooms were clean, and the private parking was handy. It’s a very quiet place.

The view is gorgeous, and the breakfast was delicious. The staff were the nicest I've ever met. I'd recommend staying here if you're going to Mergozzo.

Picchio made a great base for our three nights last week. We were surrounded by nature, with a lovely lake view, and close to Mergozzo, between Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore. Our room was clean and nicely furnished, and the welcome was excellent. Breakfast had lots of variety, including homemade yogurt and jams. The orange jam was delicious! Definitely recommended. My parents, who are 85, have stayed here three times already and are sure to return. They love the warm, attentive welcome and the delightful setting among the greenery, with the lakes close by. Breakfast is generous and includes lots of homemade treats, like yogurt, jams, and cakes. The cake with wild blueberries and chocolate was delicious.

From August 23rd to 28th, 2025, I stayed at the beautiful B&B Il Picchio with Maurizia and her family. The room was superb, the garden lovely, and breakfast incredibly good. Every detail seemed carefully considered. Everything was perfect, and I’ll definitely be back.
