The beach is right across the road, and Messina’s city center is only about a 10-minute drive away. The host was very friendly, too. The apartment has been fully renovated and is laid out thoughtfully, with everything we needed, including air conditioning, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a washing machine. It’s on the ground floor, so there isn’t much natural light, and you can hear some traffic, but neither bothered us too much.

I booked the apartment for my girlfriend, who isn’t Italian, while we were looking into a possible move. The reservation was for one person, and at first they said they didn’t want any kind of guest. After the cancellation, they went as far as saying escorts weren’t allowed in the house. I hope they can feel at peace with that, because this level of service is awful. They should be grateful they were dealing with decent people and rethink their terms. What rude people.
