Casa Vacanze Macchi

The apartment was so bad I would have given it minus one star if I could. It may be one of the worst places to stay in Milan. The cleanliness was awful. There was dust everywhere, including on the bedroom lights, the air conditioner and its pipe, and even inside and outside the hair dryer. The walls were marked up, and the sofa bed was stained and dirty. The toilet was filthy, with mold in the shower. The coffee machine was dirty, and the boiler had a lot of calcium buildup. The towels and sheets both smelled stale, and the sheets didn't feel clean. The washer-dryer didn't work. We followed the Italian instructions on the paper, using Google Translate, and chose the settings shown in the pictures, but after three hours our clothes still weren't dry. We had to spend another two hours at a nearby laundromat washing and drying them, which wasted our time. The walls are very thin, too. At night and early in the morning we could hear the neighbors talking, vacuuming, having sex, and using squeaky chairs and a bed. Bring earplugs if you stay here. Getting in was confusing because the check-in instructions were wrong. They said to call the intercom, but you actually need to use the key to open the main gate. You also have to climb one flight of stairs before reaching a small elevator that fits only two people at a time. On checkout day, the lift malfunctioned and I got stuck inside. It stopped before it should have, and the buttons didn't work. Luckily, it was 9 a.m. and the janitor was nearby to tell me what to do. I got out after about 10 minutes. I'd pay more for another hotel or apartment. This dusty, dirty place with a malfunctioning lift just isn't worth it.
