Hotel Glam Milano

The good location was about the only upside. Glam Hotel was horrible and absolutely didn’t feel like a 4-star property. My room was filthy and dusty, the bed wasn’t made properly, and the pillows looked awful and dirty. The furniture was badly maintained, and the hair dryer was stuffed under the sink with tangled wires and didn’t work. Then at 10:00 PM, a man knocked repeatedly and tried to open my door, saying I’d asked for a kettle. I hadn’t. He kept insisting through the door, and when I stood my ground, he left after shouting that he “had to work” and telling me not to call reception for a kettle again. Terrified, I called reception and asked for security to come to my room. Ten minutes later they called back and said it was just “kids playing around.” When I told them it was clearly a grown man, they changed the explanation to a room service mistake. I told them plainly the hotel didn’t feel safe. The receptionist said they had security guards, but I was so uneasy that I blocked the door with my luggage in case someone tried again. Avoid this place!!!

The drains in both the sink and shower were blocked, so water quickly covered the bathroom floor and sink. It was really annoying. The shower kept swinging between extremely hot and cold, which made a proper shower impossible. Breakfast had little choice and tasted bad. I don’t think this should be a 4-star hotel.

A sudden war broke out in my country, and my flights were immediately canceled, so I couldn’t get to Glam Milano. I know I booked a non-refundable rate, but this was an extreme “force majeure” emergency. My cruise line and other hotels showed real humanity by offering credits and full refunds, while Glam Milano stayed completely rigid and unsympathetic. Basic empathy matters in a crisis. If something unexpected happens to you, don’t expect support from this hotel’s management. Very disappointing.

The location deserves the 3 rating, with easy access to the station and the Central district. The room and housekeeping, though, left me dissatisfied. There were three adults, yet we were given just one creamer and one tea bag. The bigger problem was hot water: we had to leave the basin tap running for at least two minutes before it came through. We raised it with the hotel and were told that was how it worked. We’ve stayed in plenty of European hotels and never had that happen. The hotel should improve these things.
