HD8 Hotel Milano

They let me leave my luggage for a few extra hours on my last day in Milan, which I really appreciated. The front desk staff were welcoming and helpful. My room was clean, the shower pressure was good, and the hotel was close to Central Train Station. The tile floor was pretty chilly, so I was glad slippers were provided. It was an easy, enjoyable stay.

The staff and service were excellent, and breakfast was pretty good. Even as a fussy eater, I could always find something I liked. But the rooms let the place down for me. Mine was small and dark, with no real workspace, just a ledge and a wobbly little stool. Most things you’d expect in a four-star room were available on request, presumably because the compact rooms don’t have space for extra accessories. I also don’t like having the shower and sink in the main room. It seemed odd that a TV with hundreds of channels had nothing in English. The shower was the biggest problem: on the ninth floor, the water kept swinging between boiling and freezing, something I’ve noticed in other reviews too. I’d call it a four-star hotel with perhaps two- or three-star rooms. Make of that what you like.

We were three people and had a comfortable night’s sleep in our three beds. The room was compact but nice, with a small place to hang clothes, and the bathroom had just enough space for what we needed. It was cleaned daily and always left spotless. The location beside the train station made it easy to explore and get back. Staff were wonderfully friendly, quick, and helpful. We didn’t have a kettle at first, but they brought one free of charge when we asked, along with tea and coffee, a thoughtful touch. The one issue was low shower pressure and water that often shifted from hot to cold, and the sink had the same temperature problem. It was still usable. We stayed two nights for a reasonable price, had a lovely time, and hope to return! :D

During the Iran war I got stuck here, unable to go home, and had to book one night at a time without knowing when I could leave. Every staff member seemed to know who I was and took such good care of me through all that uncertainty. One person told me, ‘Even if the rooms are sold out, don’t worry, we will always accommodate you.’ I’m sorry I can’t remember your name, but those words meant everything at such a stressful time. You were kind, warm people, not just employees doing a job, and I’m more grateful than I can say. The hotel is also clean, modern, and well organized, with an amazing location and very fair prices. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
