Hotel Alessander

The staff were excellent, and the location was convenient. For a short stay where you mainly need somewhere to sleep, it’s decent. My room was clean but felt old and musty, and the bathroom was cramped. Noise was the main reason I didn’t rate it higher. I was on the first floor and could hear conversations at reception, the door buzzer and breakfast bustle as if there were no door between us. A loud machine just outside my room also woke me a few times, even though they turned it off at night.

The staff were really friendly and attentive, and I was happy with my stay. The sheets and towels were clean, and the room had a TV, AC, small fridge, hair dryer and shampoo/soaps. Parking was convenient too, at €5 a day, which seemed reasonable compared with other lots. It’s a basic place, but it makes sense for a low-budget trip if you’ll spend most of the day sightseeing and just come back to shower and sleep. If you want somewhere fancy, this isn’t it. Breakfast had plenty of cookies, cakes, coffee and other drinks, but not much ham or cheese. I really wished they’d add even one or two vegetables, like tomatoes or cucumbers.

We ended up moving to a different hotel for our third night because this one had no availability. The new place was in a much nicer, more central area and cost less. This hotel felt overpriced for its setting, an unattractive industrial zone with limited public transport and the nearest metro about a 20-minute walk away. The room itself was spacious, quiet and clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly. They let us check in three hours early, which we really appreciated after problems at another hotel forced us to arrive here at the last minute.

The room was even better than it looked in the pictures, and the Ukrainian guy at reception was incredibly helpful.
